MdFF returned this November with five vibrant days of film, conversation, and community energy. From packed theaters and late-night afterparties to screenings under the stars at Current Space, the festival brought thousands together to celebrate bold storytelling from Baltimore and beyond.
Thanks to support from the Patricia and Mark Joseph Foundation and the Ian Driskill Memorial Fund, students filled the building — exploring CineTech, attending free screenings, and participating in the first-ever Youth Film Summit, which included filmmaker masterclasses, equipment demos, and the Student Shorts for Everyone! program.
Beloved programs like BaltiShorts and Q+ Shorts made a triumphant return, alongside special events including Sweet Sixteens, live film scoring, filmmaker spotlights, and a closing celebration that turned the Parkway Lounge into a full-on community party.
Windows on North + Charles
Our outdoor projection series continued to animate Station North with film, art, and local stories — including a new permanent installation funded by the Gutierrez Memorial Fund. These projections provided an accessible entry point for audiences and created a nightly glow across the neighborhood.
CineTech & DevMode
CineTech transformed the Parkway’s second and third floors into a playground for cinematic games, interactive films, and emerging media, inviting visitors to “step inside a world where film meets play.” DevMode launched as a gathering place for creative technologists, artists, and collaborators.
Film+ & Community Programs
Film+ programming expanded significantly in 2025, transforming screenings into deeper community experiences. We partnered with Crew Call, the Baltimore Filmmakers Collective, Baltimore Cinematic Universe, the Saul Zaenz Innovation Fund and the Baltimore Women’s Media Alliance to support filmmaker development and post-screening conversations. Pop-up collaborations with Mobtown Ballroom and Club Car brought film, music, and movement together in unexpected ways.
Regular Parkway Pop Ups of monthly screenings of 3 Baltimore exclusive programs were available to audiences throughout the year, usually with a Film+ aspect or a post-screening conversation, Q&A’s with directors and receptions.
The Parkway also worked with the Baltimore Orioles and the Babe Ruth Museum to present our “Baseball Weekend” Film+ series, and partnered with TranSend at the Pride Center of Maryland and the Trans Masc Social Club of Baltimore for programming honoring Trans Day of Visibility.
