The SNF Parkway Theatre invites Baltimore-area performing artists to apply for the inaugural SNF Parkway Artist Residencies, a pilot program designed to support artist career development while strengthening the Parkway’s capacity for presenting live performance. With support from the Mellon Foundation, three live arts projects will be supported and presented in the Parkway’s historic theater and public spaces in 2026.

RESIDENCY CATEGORIES

One residency will be awarded in each category:

  • Theatrical Performance
    (theatre, devised work, interdisciplinary performance, dance, improv/sketch)
  • Spoken Word / Comedy
    (stand-up, storytelling, spoken word, literary performance)
  • Live Music
    (solo musicians, ensembles, bands, cross-genre music)

STIPEND & SUPPORT

Each Resident Artist receives:

  • $6,000 stipend
  • + Opportunity to earn a percentage of ticket sales
    (revenue split in industry-standard range of 30/70 – 50/50 TBD by Resident and Parkway) 

Additional support includes:

  • Performance opportunity in the Parkway’s large historic auditorium (Theater 1) or other spaces
  • Rehearsal access (scheduled with Parkway staff)
  • Marketing and promotional support
  • Use of lighting, audio, projection, and cinema-grade technology
  • Box office and front-of-house staffing
  • Professional development support from Parkway staff

ELIGIBILITY

  • Open to artists living and working in the Greater Baltimore Region
    (Anne Arundel, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll, Harford, Howard)
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must have or create a Baker Artist Portfolio
  • Individual artists and artist-led collectives may apply
    (a lead artist must be designated)

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Artists or artist-led groups who:

  • Want to experiment, adapt, or expand their practice
  • Are excited to create work for a historic cinema/theater space
  • Are interested in collaborating with Parkway staff on a new live-arts model
  • Value flexibility, communication, co-learning, community partnerships, and intersectional connections

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Create or update your Baker Artist Portfolio at bakerartist.org
  2. Submit yourself to the SNF Parkway Artist Residency Call
  3. Submit a 2 page pdf including project description and simple budget through the Baker site

 

Interested artists are encouraged to attend:

  • An open-house site visit at the SNF Parkway to view the venue
  • A Baker Artist / SNF Parkway Residency info session or watch the Baker Artist Info Session Video on-demand here 

(Dates and times for the site visits and on-site info session will be posted at bakerartist.org/SNFParkway and at snfparkway.org/artist-residencies by early January.)
